Beacon Street Girls: Letters from the Heart by Annie Bryant

Check availability of Letters from the Heart in the library catalog.

The five Beacon Street Girls tell each other everything.  But when Maeve’s parents split up, Maeve is too embarrassed to tell her friends.  When Maeve wins an award for Project Thread, her crush Dillion asks her out for that Friday.  She says yes without thinking.  That Friday was supposed to be her first sleepover at her dad’s new place with her eight-year-old brother, Sam.  She tells everyone lies and when they find out where she really is, everyone is upset.  Her parents ground her for two weeks, but still let her go to Avery’s mom’s Tallbot reunion party to show what girls today are like.  I recommend this book because it is easy to relate to.  The girls in this book face problems and fights.  Maeve’s parents separate, Avery temporarily loses a guinea pig, and Maeve is keeping secrets from her friends.  A second reason why I recommend this book is because you never know what the BSG are going to do next.  For example, when Avery had the guinea pigs, one minute she is playing with them and the next she is running all over trying to find where Beckham [the guinea pig] went.
